New Curriculum Should be Supported
The Education Cabinet Secretary is right.
“Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha on Tuesday assured Kenyans that the rollout of the new curriculum is on despite opposition from teachers union leaders.
Speaking at Uhuru Gardens Primary School in Nairobi during the launch of training of teachers on the competency-based curriculum, Prof Magoha said there is no turning back and warned critics that they are only wasting their time.”

New Curriculum Should be Supported
The Ministry of Education is set to train over 1,000 Education officials to enable them to effectively supervise the implementation of the Education Reform the government is undertaking.
“We need both the learner and the teacher to understand what the Competence Based Curriculum is all about,” the Principal Secretary for Basic Education, Dr. Belio Kipsang said.
“We have a task to change the mindset of all our stakeholders and move them from the old to the new system,” saying the government wants, under the auspices of CBC, to “see what the learner has attained and not what the teacher had taught.

New Curriculum Should be Supported
I am liking the way Education CS Prof Magoha is calling KNUT’s bluff regarding implementation of the new curriculum.
In the matter of the new curriculum, KNUT is clearly not acting in the interests of the teachers or the pupils.
When KNUT opposed changes that have stopped exam cheating, that is when I realized the organisation has been hijacked by selfish, unpatriotic elites.
I have not seen any evidence to suggest KNUT position about the new curriculum is supported by more than 5% of Kenyan teachers. In whose interests is KNUT acting? When was KNUT hijacked by shadowy entities, and who are these shadowy entities?
Recall the situation in Kenyan universities when shadowy non-university networks had hijacked students unions. The laws governing elections in those unions were changed, thus destroying those underground networks’ control of students’ unions.
Its time to study who has hijacked KNUT, and act accordingly.
