So you use Tor/VPN and thinks nobody knows what you are doing?

The Tor Project, hailed as a bulwark against the encroaching surveillance state, has received funding from US government agency the BBG and cooperates with intelligence agencies, newly released documents reveal.

Although there’s no evidence of Tor employees providing the US government with a direct “backdoor” to the software, the documents do show that Tor has “no qualms with privately tipping off the federal government [and thousands of private government contractors] to security vulnerabilities before alerting the public, a move that would give the feds [and select private companies]an opportunity to exploit the security weakness long before informing Tor users.”

How Tor is Used To Trap Users

Now you know.

I have always been suspicious of TOR, even before reading this article.

The fact that The Tor Project states openly that it is a ‘US 501(c)(3) non-profit organization’ is enough evidence for me that you cannot trust them not to share users information with the govt.

But that is not a problem, in my opinion. The biggest problem with TOR is that they also share info with private contractors. This means that users’ info is known by too many people, some of whom may not have good intentions.

About VPNs: Privacy of VPNs is based on trust. You trust that it does what it says it does. Enough said.
